BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot at officers after leading them on a chase in a stolen car Friday night.

BRPD said officers exchanged gunfire with 20-year-old Micah Wiley on Hammond Street and St. Katherine Avenue. Officers said Wiley took off and has not been found.

Sgt. L'Jean McKneely says Wiley is under investigation for other incidents and considered armed and dangerous.

"He has been involved in multiple incidents in surrounding parishes and probably here in Baton Rouge. We know he's actively out there committing crime. We would like to arrest this individual for this particular crime amongst others that we believe that he's been actively participating in," he said.

Wiley is wanted for two counts of attempted first-degree murder, as well as one count each of aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, illegal possession of stolen firearms and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In Sept. 2022, Wiley was arrested for attempted murder for allegedly shooting someone in Prairieville. In August 2024, Wiley pleaded guilty to illegal use of an automatic weapon and was sentenced to four years in prison. He was released from custody Sept. 20, 2024. The Department of Corrections said that Wiley had been in jail since his arrest and the time counted toward his sentence.

Three other passengers — 20-year-old Corey Bassett, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old — were arrested on Friday shortly after the shooting and pursuit. The juveniles were released from custody.

Anyone with information about Wiley's whereabouts can call (225) 389-2000.
