Volunteers install 9/11 memorial on Zachary High School lawn
ZACHARY - Volunteers spent Wednesday afternoon hammering white crosses into the lawn outside of Zachary High School, each a symbol of a life lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
David Hostetler, the "idea man" behind the installation, said local businesses donated wood and paint, and volunteers gave their time and sweat to accomplish the goal.
Hostetler said he hopes to expand the volunteer effort next year and have each of the crosses personalized with the name of the people who were killed on 9/11.
