Baton Rouge man hurt in Mall of Louisiana shooting returns to sport he loves after multiple surgeries
BATON ROUGE — More than five months after being injured in the Mall of Louisiana shooting, Donnie Guillory returned to the soccer field.
Guillory joined friends and teammates with the Baton Rouge Soccer Club's Unified Team, a program dedicated to athletes with special needs.
He has been part of the program for more than seven years. After a long recovery that included multiple surgeries, Guillory was committed to getting back on the field.
"Having him back and seeing him back on the field for the first was big for them," Paul Fletcher of the Baton Rouge Soccer Club said. "He's one of the leaders in the group."
