PRAIRIEVILLE — Newsong Community Church has opened its pumpkin patch, bringing more than 20,000 pounds of pumpkins to Prairieville.

The annual event raises funds for the church's mission trips and several charities in the Capital Region. Organizers say they raised more than $30,000 last year.

The event includes a hayride, crafts and a pie-sized pumpkin for each child. Admission is free.

The patch is located at 18465 Old Perkins Road and runs through October. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

On Oct. 31, the church will host a free fall festival with live music, free jambalaya and an artisan market from 1 to 4 p.m.
