LAFAYETTE — Police are investigating after a man who was trapped in a Lafayette storm drain for two days was rescued by firefighters. 

According to the Lafayette Fire Department, first responders were called to West Pont De Mouton Road on Tuesday after receiving reports of someone being in the storm drain. A caller told firefighters that they saw a flag being waved out of the drain. 

Once they arrived, firefighters removed the drain cover and found a man inside. 

The man told firefighters that he had been there for two days. Once removed, Acadian Ambulance Services assessed the man's condition. 

The Lafayette Police Department then began investigating the situation.
