BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Education recently announced 14 educators selected to serve a four-year term on the Teacher Advisory Council. 

The council will meet with state leaders on a quarterly basis to discuss issues, laws, rules and policies affecting teachers and students. 

The department released applications for the open seats in May and announced the members last month. 

Of the 14 new members, nearly half of them were from the capital area.

The council was created in 2022 to enhance teacher voice and gather educator feedback on current education initiatives and how Louisiana can improve student outcomes.
