BATON ROUGE — An LSU student has filed criminal charges against a football player she says raped her in 2025, a situation that the university says was "handled professionally" through its internal Title IX process. 

In a social media video posted Sept. 14, TikTok user Kendall Danielle alleged that she was raped by a football player who was found liable during the school's Title IX investigation. She said he was allowed to appeal the decision and return to campus, despite him receiving a year-long suspension.

The alleged victim said that after posting her first video, she decided to press criminal charges. In a follow-up video posted Monday, she said that she reported the assault to BRPD, and officers directed her to LSUPD since the alleged incident happened in its jurisdiction. 

She posted a clip of her interaction with BRPD officers, who told her that they've made plenty of arrests that are not prosecuted and dismissed in court. 

"I want to be straightforward with you, in just what I've seen, I see issues, and I just want to be honest with you. That doesn't mean he's not going to be arrested, but it means that he could be arrested and then it's just," the officer said before shrugging. 

District Attorney Hillar Moore's office said it is investigating the alleged rape, which was first brought to his office on Tuesday. Moore said in a statement that his office is investigating all relevant reports made to LSU, LSUPD, BRPD and the coroner's office.

A spokesperson for the university said that the student athlete was the first to report the situation to police, but a criminal complaint was not filed at that time. They included that LSU properly followed its Title IX policy. 

“LSU and its current administration take very seriously any allegations of misconduct involving students on our campuses. Safety and security must be our number one priority,” said President Rousse. “Let me assure everyone that this incident has been handled professionally and that LSU has strictly followed our policies, procedures and best practices, including the Title IX process, to guide our actions to date. Now that a criminal complaint has been filed, our role is to continue cooperating with our law enforcement partners as they work through their investigatory process.”

In her video, the alleged victim said that her alleged rapist was found accountable for rape in the school's Title IX proceedings and hit with a two-semester suspension. 

She said that she decided to make the situation public and tell her story when she found out that the alleged rapist appealed the punishment and was allowed back on campus. 

The player's name has not been made public. This is a developing story.
